This past Friday, a group of Kuwaiti chess fans sponsored a one day blitz tournament. An Amazing 28 players joined the event. And a handful of others joined the fun by kibitzing the games.
A total of 6 rounds were played in about 2 and a half hours. Games started at 6:00 PM and the final game was concluded at 8:40PM. The ending was exciting because we had two players with a 5 point score. Roberto Carandang Played Against Ferdinand Laming in the tie breaks. Caradang played with the white pieces and Ferdie had the black. Since it was the tie-break, the time controls were slightly different. White had six minutes to win and black had 4 minutes to win or draw to secure his victory.
After a tactical middle game, Ferdie succembed to Carandang’s tactical finess and lost on time. Congratulations To ROBERTO CARANDANG for winning the first Blitz tournament of 2010! Below you will see the results and the players who participated accompanied with pictures. Enjoy 🙂
