Pre-Report for Round 1 Fischer Open 2009

It was a great and exciting night for the EIGHTY PLAYERS who registered for the tournament. There was a lot of new faces. All familiar with the game of chess and ready to slaughter thier opponents.

The biggest surprise was on Table #2, where Bader Al Hajeri (the Kuwait Chess-Champ) was defeated by a young lad at the age of 12! Asfand Yar Khan is the son of another great chess player, Khaled Khan Anwer. The game was extremely difficult and the tactics were wild! So many people gathered around that board just to watch what was going to happen.

Thier game will be posted shortly, along with pictures and a more indepth coverage. I got home late last night and didn’t have the time to update the website.

Stay tuned for coverage for the 1st and 2nd round of the Fischer Open CHESS tournament. Have a good day chess fans. And for the chess players, good luck to you all!

Directions for the Tournament Hall!

Map To Arena

The Society of Engineers is a huge building with many, many entrances. I created this map to help people find thier way to the tournament hall.

If you follow the map exactly, you should arrive to the building marked with “X.”

When inside building “X,” ask for the basement area because that is where the chess tournament will be held.

UPDATES and INFORMATION:

  • 75 people have registered for the tournament.
  • And since Parking could be a problem, I suggest you get there early.
